Meet Your Astros - JD Martinez

JD Martinez was drafted after his junior year by the Astros in 2009 in the 20th round, 611th overall. He started the 2011 season with Corpus Christi before earning a promotion to the big leagues on July 30, 2011 to replace Hunter Pence, who was traded to the Phillies. After the Pence trade that bolted Martinez into the majors JD started in 52 of the last 56 games and managed 6 homers and 35 RBIs. If JD can really work his ass off or as he put it in an interview with the Houston Chronicle "Work out till I throw up" and gets some power behind his bat he might be a slightly better than average hitter in the 3 slot. He does have the potential to be a very valuable asset to the team in only 56 games last year he did create a buzz in and around Houston almost as if he came out of no where, so i am excited to see what he can do in a full season. With all that said he would probably be my player to watch on the Astros this season.
